Native Americans From Across The West To Unite At Barona For The 6th Annual Yuman Family Language Summit
Tribes Will Focus on Keeping Their Language and Culture Alive

Native American Tribes from across the Western United States will gather at the Barona Convention Center for the 6th Annual Yuman Family Language Summit from April 29 through May 1, 2008.  The Barona Band of Mission Indians is proud to be the host of this year’s language and cultural event. This year’s conference is entitled “Sixteen Languages, One Family” and will celebrate the culture and traditions of the Yuman Nation, which encompass Tribes spanning from Southern California to the Grand Canyon to northern Baja, Mexico. In a collaborative effort among the Tribes to preserve and revitalize the Yuman languages and cultures, attendees will have the opportunity to attend a variety of presentations including language workshops, traditional art seminars, as well as classes discussing native plants and the relationship of language and song. The three-day summit will also feature traditional foods, games, storytelling traditions and a dinner recognizing the elders who have been instrumental in preserving the language/culture. The event is $40 pre-paid and $80 at the door. Spring Into Hot New Entertainment at Harrah’s Rincon in April

Spring has arrived, bringing warmer days and nights and hot new entertainment to Harrah’s Rincon Casino & Resort. Located just 20 minutes northeast of Escondido in San Diego North, Harrah’s Rincon has planned a month of entertainment that includes music legend Boz Scaggs, hard-rock headliners The Black Crowes, Tony award-winning singer-actress Lea Salonga, 1960’s hit makers Jay Siegel and the Tokens, a new Lites Out Event in Cabana Cove, great new dinner specials in the International Buffet, 80’s Fridays in Cabana Cove, Sizzlin’ Salsa Saturdays in Cabana Cove and free live entertainment in the Oasis Lounge.

Lites Out in Cabana Cove – April 3
Harrah’s Rincon partners with KIFM Smooth Jazz 98.1 for a “Lites Out” event in Cabana Cove Bar and Grill on Thursday, April 3rd from 7-9 p.m. There will be live jazz entertainment performed by Tom Griesgraber, various prize giveaways throughout the evening and Cabana Cove will be offering a variety of delectable food and drink specials. Admission to this event is free but guests must be 21 years of age or older to attend.

Boz Scaggs – April 18 
Boz Scaggs has been involved in the music business since 1959 when he became a vocalist for Steve Miller’s first band, The Marksmen. After performing with other bands like The Ardells, The Fabulous Night Trains, Mother Earth, and The Steve Miller Band, Scaggs set out as a solo performer in 1968. He released his smash album Silk Degrees, which included chart-toppers Lido Shuffle and Lowdown, in 1976 and has been a top recording and concert artist ever since. Boz Scaggs will be performing a single show in the Pavilion at Harrah’s Rincon on Friday, April 18th at 8 p.m. Tickets are $50 for preferred seating and $40 for reserved seating and are available through TicketWeb by calling 1-866-468-3399 or logging on to www.ticketweb.com. Joey Dee and the Starliters – April 23
When you think back to the days of old-time rock-n-roll, one of the groups you probably remember are Joey Dee and the Starliters. In 1961, their hit single, The Peppermint Twist, skyrocketed up the charts and made them rock-n-roll icons. Joey Dee and the Starliters will be performing two free concerts on Wednesday, April 23rd in the Oasis Lounge. Showtimes are
1 and 3 p.m. All guests must be 21 years or older to attend the show.

The Black Crowes – April 26
Formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 1984, The Black Crowes started their career as a revivalist band dedicated to celebrating and playing 1970s blues-rock. Their first studio album released in 1990, Shake Your Money Maker, sold over three million copies and produced such singles as Hard to Handle and She Talks to Angels. Succeeding albums such as The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, Amorica, and this year’s Warpaint have ensured that they have remained one of the country’s top concert draws. The Black Crowes will be performing in the first show of the summer concert season in the Open Sky  Theater at Harrah’s Rincon on Saturday, April 26th at 8 p.m. Tickets are $55 for preferred seating and $45 for reserved seating and are available through TicketWeb by calling 1-866-468-3399 or logging on to www.ticketweb.com. Lea Salonga – April 27

One of Broadway’s brightest stars, Lea Salonga’s vast list of theater credits include the role of Eponine in Les Miserables, a recent revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Flower Drum Song, and the original Kim in the 1991 production of Miss Saigon, for which she received a Tony Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Musical. Salonga was also the voice of Princess Jasmine and Mulan in the Disney blockbuster features Aladdin, Mulan and Mulan 2 and has recorded over a dozen solo CDs. Salonga will be will be performing a single show in the Pavilion at Harrah’s Rincon on Sunday, April 27th at 8 p.m. Tickets are $45 for preferred seating and $35 for reserved seating and are available through TicketWeb by calling 1-866-468-3399. Amazing Race Around the World to 2008 Olympics at the
International Buffet

Not only is 2008 Leap Year and a Presidential Election year, it is also a Summer Olympics year. And to celebrate, The International Buffet at Harrah’s Rincon is offering The Amazing Race Around the World Dinner Buffet, with each “leg” (month) highlighting different regions of the world. For the month of April the following regions will be featured:

· Mexico, Cuba and the Caribbean – Every Monday and Tuesday, the International Buffet will present such dishes as Mojo De Ajo Shrimp in Buttery Garlic Sauce, Palomilla Steak, Cuban Roast Pork, Arroz con Pollo, Sopa de Mariscos, Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Auntie Ollie’s Banana Fish Dish (red snapper with Banana Lime Relish), Pozole, Flan, Coconut Cake, and Blue Mountain Mocha Cake.

· Italy – Every Wednesday, the International Buffet will celebrate Italy with dishes such as Antipasti Salad, Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast with Caper Lemon Butter Sauce, Zucchini Pie, Baked Ziti, Spaghetti Alla Carbonara, Lamb Osso Bucco, Veal Marsala, Calamari Fritti, Cioppino (Seafood stew with tomato and fresh herbs), Tiramisu, Cannoli, and Panna Cotta.

Latino Thursdays at Harrah’s Rincon
Looking for something different on Thursday nights? Check out Latino Thursdays at Harrah’s Rincon. You can start your evening with a meal at the International Buffet. Thursday night features the Latin Buffet – a lavish assortment of dishes such as Casuela Limona, Ceviche, Arroz con Pollo, Sopa de Mariscos, Cuban Roast Pork, and Shrimp and Salmon Mojo de Ajo. Price for the all-you-can-eat Latin Dinner Buffet is $17.99. Then after dinner, check out the Latin themed entertainment in the Oasis Lounge.

80’s Fridays in Cabana Cove
Remember the 80s – shoulder pads, big hair and lively pop music? You can relive those days in Cabana Cove every Friday night. Enjoy delicious beverages and a variety of food items as you listen to the Harrah’s Rincon DJ play your favorite tunes from the 80s – and yes; he will take your requests. 80’s Fridays start at 8 p .m. and run through midnight at Cabana Cove.

Sizzlin’ Salsa Saturdays at the Cove
Put a little sizzle in your Saturdays with Salsa Saturdays at the Cove – San Diego North’s favorite salsa event. Every Saturday night, Harrah’s Rincon will feature a different salsa band from 8 p.m. – midnight. There will be a dance contest with cash prizes at 11 p.m. You can salsa dance to your heart’s content and if you work up a thirst or an appetite, enjoy one of the many specially priced food and drink offerings from Cabana Cove. Free salsa dance lessons will also be provide every Saturday from 7-8 p.m.

On the menu at 29 Noodles are 10 soups priced from $3.29 to $5.29. Six appetizers are the perfect way to tempt the palate and are priced from $4.29 to $6 .29. Of course, the main attraction at 29 Noodles is the main course, and there are 10 different noodle entrees to choose from, priced from $6.29 to $12.29.

Diners select tender chicken, choice cuts of beef, succulent pork, fresh fish or crisp vegetables to pair with their choice of four different noodles or steaming fried rice.
