Tahoe ARTour Set For July 11-14
Throughout four cultural days this summer, 36 local artists will open the doors to their personal studios, giving the public a rare glimpse at the process each artist takes to produce their pieces, and providing the chance to admire and purchase one-of-a-kind works of art. It all happens at this year's Tahoe ARTour, now in its ninth year, hosted by the Sierra Artists¹ Network from Thursday, July 11 to Sunday, July 14. Last year, over 700 Tahoe ARTour maps were sold, admitting participants into local artists' spaces. The wide array of artistic styles showcased ranged from Lake Tahoe¹s natural wonders captured in mirrored detail, embodiments of Native American art forms, contemporary perceptions on everyday items to abstract symbols composed of colors and shapes and more. This year is again expected to catch the wide variety of artistic expressions within the community. Beginning Friday, July 5 each participating artist will also be represented in a month long exhibit showcased at the North Tahoe Art Center, 380 North Lake Blvd., Tahoe City. A gala reception, open to the public, will be held Wednesday, July 10 where all artwork displayed in the gallery will be available for purchase. As a kick-off to the four-day event, the evening will also include a silent auction and raffle with prizes donated from local businesses.
Studios and displays open 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. throughout the four-day event. The Tahoe ARTour map is $10 and will be available for purchase to everyone in early June at the North Tahoe Art Center and other local outlets.
In addition to supporting member artists, the Sierra Artists' Network's Tahoe ARTour is its major fund-raiser. Proceeds go to the continuation of the Sierra Artists' Network's range of art exhibits, workshops, classes and activities offered to the entire regional community. The North Tahoe Art Center is open to the public year round.
Since 1994 the North Tahoe Art Center has already seen major renovations with the development of a second floor gallery as well as the Art Center Gift Shop. And, through the overall support of the community and local sponsors, the Sierra Artists' Network has grown and expanded to boast more than 300 members to date.
The Sierra Artists' Network, founded in 1991, is a non-profit organization, supporting the arts and artists of the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee area. Through the development of awareness and appreciation of visual arts in the community, the Sierra Artists' network recognizes and celebrates the artistic talents of local residents as well as the appreciation of nationally known artists.
